Doug Perry, Sensei

He who speaks without modesty will find it difficult to make his words good.

                                                                                                                           Confucius

I have had the pleasure of meeting and listening to what I feel are some principal words of wisdom from a true Master, Perry, Sensei. He is a humble and modest man and understands the nature of man. I seek his counsel whenever I need good advice.

Doug Perry Is the North American Director of the Shorinryu Shorinkan Kyokai appointed by Hanshi/Judan Shugoro Nakazato. Sensei Perry began his martial arts training in 1956 at Paris Island. Since that time he has had the opportunity to train under Tatsu Shimabuku in Ishinryu Karate-Do at the Agenda Dojo in Okinawa. He Studied with Bill Hayes of Shobayashi Ryu, one of Hanshi Eizo Shimabukus senior students. In 1977, Sensei Perry received the rank of Hachidan from Hanshi Nakazato. He has been in Karate and Kobudo world for over 45 years, many of those years in the Far East under the direct tutelage of some great Okinawan Masters. He is a retired Marine Corps “Mustang” Major having served over 24 years and earned 25 combat decorations, including Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
